Hi, I’m Maris—a designer and maker working from my studio in regional New South Wales, where creativity is measured in millimetres, and the laser hums with precision and possibility. My work celebrates the intersection of craftsmanship and technology, using laser cutting as both a tool and an art form.

After decades immersed in textiles—from felting to dressmaking—I shifted my focus to the crisp clarity of laser-cut design. Since stepping away from teaching in 2019, I’ve dived deep into this modern medium, discovering new ways to turn timber, acrylic, and even fabric into tactile, expressive pieces. The precision of the laser allows me to capture delicate patterns and intricate shapes that would be impossible by hand—bringing my designs to life with elegance and accuracy.

In my studio, every item is thoughtfully designed and individually cut, etched, and assembled. Whether it's the delicate detail in a pair of earrings, the clever construction of a stitched bowl, or the layered timber accents of a laser-cut lamp, each piece blends natural materials with exacting technique. Inspiration comes from everywhere—bush textures, vintage tools, architectural motifs—and my laser cutter helps translate those ideas into pieces people can connect with.

I’m joined in the studio by my affable assistant, Cooper the poodle, who brings mischief, warmth, and a nose for good design. He’s proof that even in a world of machines, a little fluff goes a long way.

Thanks for supporting handmade, laser-crafted design. I hope my creations bring joy, beauty, and a touch of precision magic into your life.
